Ameet Bains may be in his current role at St Kilda for another two months but that hasn't stopped him from doing his homework in advance on the Western Bulldogs.

The recently appointed chief executive officer has already identified one area of concern at both the club and in the game as he says the intense scrutiny on players both on and off the field is one thing on the agenda that needs to be addressed.

After their fairy tale premiership run in 2016, the Bulldogs came crashing back down to earth in 2017, finishing 10th on the ladder before appointing Bains as their fourth CEO in three years, taking over from Gary Kent with David Stevenson and Simon Garlick before him.

Talking on SEN radio, Bains said the support group around players was something that would be an ongoing challenge as they are constantly in the media spotlight.

"The increasing pressure that players are under, I suppose, and the scrutiny that they face … is something that we have to grapple with on a daily basis," Bains said.

"If you look at that demographic within society and some of the issues that plague that age group in a broader sense, we do a pretty good job within the industry and the players themselves need to take a lot of credit for the way that most of them behave most of the time, but no doubt there are some ongoing issues and challenges that it presents."

Bains said that while there are some challenges that present themselves, he added that the club was not too far away from the success that the club had experienced just over a year ago.

"It's very hard for me to comment on the specifics, not being involved at the club, but this is the same club that won a premiership only 13 months ago, so a lot has gone right at the footy club," Bains said.

"There have obviously been some challenges that have been speculated on during the season but I think again, for a club to have won a premiership so recently, there's clearly a lot that's right."
