Melbourne forward Charlie Spargo was rushed to the medicos after dislocating his shoulder in Saturday's VFL elimination final against the Williamstown Seagulls.
Spargo featured for the club's reserves, Casey Demons, after a season marred by injuries.
The 2021 premiership player had gathered 10 disposals and three clearances before the third-quarter incident. He was sent to the hospital, ultimately putting his year in doubt.

Spargo had started to find continuity in his body as the Demons looked towards a finals campaign.
The clash against the Seagulls was his sixth VFL match in 2025, adding to the 10 in the senior side.
It is a massive blow for Casey, who will face Frankston Dolphins in next week's semi-final.
However, the injury to Spargo's shoulder adds to the intrigue surrounding his future at Melbourne, with a decision on his future yet to be confirmed.
North Melbourne is reportedly showing heavy interest in acquiring his talents, according to AFL Media's Cal Twomey, as they look to bolster their crumbing forward stocks around spearhead Nick Larkey.
Spargo's father played 81 games for the Kangaroos during the 1980s and 1990s.

Twomey did note that Spargo has an extension on the table from the Demons for the 2026 season, which he is expected to consider "in coming weeks".
In more positive news, Noah Yze (son of Richmond coach and Melbourne player Adem) dominated the match, kicking seven goals in the 76-point win.
