The best part about entering new footy season is that it's a fresh slate - every club starts from zero.

Optimism is high as fans relish in the prospect of their club making some form of improvement on last year, whether that's contending for a premiership, returning to September action, or seeing young players blossom into genuine superstars to push a rebuild forward.

Whether they've just won back-to-back premierships or are coming off a one-win campaign, each club has something to look forward to next year.

So, here's one thing your favourite club should be excited about entering the new year.

A three-peat has only been achieved six times in V/AFL history, and only the Melbourne Demons have achieved the feat twice. That makes the 2026 season a historic opportunity for the Lions, who have bolstered their playing list significantly since claiming back-to-back premierships in September.

Should recruits Sam Draper and Oscar Allen get back to full health and regain their star play, Brisbane's tall stocks should rank easily among the best in the AFL.

Combining that with a stellar midfield unit that is so good, the likes of Levi Ashcroft have to sit out on the wings, Brisbane's list is in a prime position to achieve one of the AFL's rarest feats and establish themselves into sporting folklore in the process.
