Port Adelaide champion Kane Cornes has stated that his stern criticism towards Adelaide is "nothing personal" and rather a fair assessment of the club's current position.
The Crows didn't register their first win of the season until Round 15 and have won just 25 from their past 56 matches since losing the 2017 Grand Final.
The club has seen several key figures leave since and have battled with the aftermath in 2020 as they look to rebuild for the future and have been plagued with a number of off-field incidents this year.
Speaking onย SEN SA Breakfast,ย Cornes said that his harsh evaluations of the Crows is meant to be constructive rather than damaging.
โWhenever I have some constructive criticism for the Adelaide Football Club, the Crows fans always ask why I donโt say something positive about them," Cornes said.
โAnd why donโt I say anything positive about them? Because you won three games.
"You sacked a coach, you sacked a couple of staff, youโve had more players leave than any other club, you canโt attract new talent to the footy club. So I call that out."
Cornes was am Adelaide fan growing up and despite his strong connection with Port Adelaide, he would still love to see them succeed.
โItโs nothing personal,โ Cornes said.
โI was a massive Crows fan growing up. I want them to succeed. I want them to do well because our show is better when the Crows are doing better.
โIโm backing the Crows supporters who want me to say positive things about the Crows when there are none.
โThereโs a wooden spoon, thereโs three wins, thereโs players leaving, thereโs coaches sacked, thereโs off-field issues. Iโm struggling to find the positives."
