North Melbourne failed: Cornes

Kane Cornes questions the signings of Aaron Hall, Jasper Pittard, Dom Tyson and Jared Polec as he believes they have got the trade period "wrong".

Cornes says there are doubts for all four players, thinking that if they will be able to overcome them once the 2019 home and away season starts.

Speaking about Hall, Cornes questioned his ability to break into the North Melbourne line-up, after failing to have an impact on the Gold Coast.

“At 20 years of age he was no doubt scintillating but by his own admission, he still hasn’t discovered the defensive side of playing at this level, and has continued to be in and out of the Gold Coast side," Cornes said on SEN.

If he hasn’t been able to get a regular game for the competition’s worst midfield, what impact do we really expect him to have?”

Cornes also doubted Pittard's ability, suggesting he was destined to play in the SANFL next season.

“His best football is elite but after nine years in the system, his continued brain fades and costly turnovers have haunted his side," Cornes said of Pittard.

"He was told by Port Adelaide that he would be playing mostly SANFL football next year if he stayed."

Cornes said of Tyson; “Do North Melbourne really need another plodder through the midfield whose kicking still lets him down?”

Lastly, Cornes took aim at Polec, suggesting the Roos will want a lot for what they paid for.

“No doubt has significant weapons but without the addition of Andrew Gaff, he will have to cope with a tag this year, which he traditionally has been unable to break."

"North have coughed up four million dollars for his services and they would be expecting better than a top-five placing in the club’s best and fairest, which is his highest finish ever in his eight years at the level.”

Do you agree with Cornes?
