The trade period is often a market where clubs can secure big fish or cheap bargains.

With a lot of noise centred around the futures of the bigger names in the league (Bontempelli, Rowell, Allen, De Koning, Wanganeen-Milera, Maynard, etc) we thought we'd take a look at some of the more under the radar out of contract players that may be sought after this offseason.

Here are nine underrated players who find themselves without contracts for 2026 that could fetch interest on the open market.

2. Callum Brown

Currently plying his trade at GWS, Callum Brown could be a solid pick up for a team looking to boost its stocks up forward.

Standing at 188cm, Brown is neither a genuine small nor a genuine tall, thus making him a difficult matchup for opposition defences. The Irishman possesses a useful blend of elite footspeed and strong kicking ability, and as such it would not be surprising to see Brown utilised off half-back or on a wing at some point during his career.

Brown's drawbacks however come in the form of his frustrating game-to-game inconsistency. A perfect example of this is his last 20 outings, a stretch which has seen the Irishman kept goalless on thirteen occasions but conversely kick multiple majors in the other seven.

At 24 years of age, Brown still has plenty of time to improve upon his consistency levels and may find this easier through a change of scenery, with the likes of Jesse Hogan, Aaron Cadman, Jake Riccardi and the Giants' mosquito fleet all receiving more game time than him over recent seasons.
