A decision on one of the AFL's biggest talking points will be made in the coming months.
The decision to either change the grand final to an evening event or keep it as a daytime spectacle will be made in late-April or early-May according to reporter Tom Morris.
Speaking on SEN's Crunchtime on Saturday, Morris said that the new chair of the AFL Commission Craig Drummond and his team will make the decision, but pundit Kane Cornes believes that the announcement should be made much sooner.
"I think it is the most obvious decision that the commission in the AFL have to make," Cornes said.
"I would have made it by now and I would have announced it and then everyone has six months to get their head around it.
"By the time it rolls around in (six) months time we'll go, 'Why didn't we do this sooner?'.
"It's happening, I would be shocked if it didn't happen this year."
Morris believes that AFL CEO Andrew Dillon's personal preference is to keep the match start time at 2:30pm.
The decision will be divisive among fans as traditionalists hope to keep the current start time, while the AFL and its broadcasters look to attract more viewers with a night grand final following a viewership ratings loss to the NRL for last year's deciders.
