Former Western Bulldogs president Peter Gordon has reportedly emerged as a contender for the vacant role as AFL commission chairman.
Gordon oversaw the Bulldogs across two separate tenures, 1989 to 1996 and 2012 to 2020, which included the Dogs' drought breaking premiership in 2016.
Other milestones included a VFL and AFLW premiership during his most recent stint, the initiation of a partnership with the City of Ballarat, which has brought AFL to the region, and the eradication of significant debt.
He has more recently been working in the legal sector.
"He's emerged late, along with Jeff Browne, who I gather might not yet have been interviewed, along with Craig Drummond, former Geelong president, David Koch from Port Adelaide and another contender who's not well known in footy that I can't tell you because I don't know," journalist Caroline Wilson said on The Agenda Setters on Tuesday night.
"I think it's fascinating that Peter Gordon's name has emerged now and I wonder if this is because...leaders on the comission think they need another contender.
"Remember this person who comes on is going to be there to take over as chairman so it's going to be a fascinating few months."
