Collingwood superstar Nick Daicos' camp says it would "be negligent not to" talk to Tasmania regarding their clients' future.
The Devils are set to enter the AFL in 2028, but have already begun listing names as potential targets ahead of the introduction.
Daicos, contracted until 2029, is the biggest name in the league, and could be a massive coup for the competition's newest team.
"Robbie manages him personally, but it would be remiss of us as a company not to sit down with Tassie and see what they would think," Paul Connors of CGD Sports Management said on Gettable.
"I think Nick's the best player in the competition. He's a leader, he's an outstanding person, so if you were Todd Patterson (Tassie's head of list management), you'd be remiss if you didn't want to have a conversation with Robbie at some stage.
"It would be negligent not to."
The Devils have cash to burn, and a $5 million sign-on bonus fund they can distribute how they see fit.
We have seen this story before.
AFL great Gary Ablett Jr was a father-son selection in 2001, following in his father's footsteps to Geelong.
Spending nine seasons at the Cattery, and as the league began expanded up the east coast, Ablett took up an offer to join the newly formed Gold Coast Suns.
This was after he achieved the ultimate success twice (2007 and 2009), as well as the Brownlow Medal (2009) and many, many individual awards.
Ablett was named the inaugural captain of the Suns.
Daicos is on a near-identical trajectory.
A premiership, multiple All-Australians, individual awards that most shelves couldn't fit. A Brownlow Medal is currently missing, but should've been handed to him in at least one of the past three years.
But until Tasmania enters the league, and most likely after, Daicos will be the favourite for the illustrious medal.
Admittedly, it is impossible to see Daicos in a guernsey other than black and white.
But we all thought the same of Ablett.
