Former Western Bulldogs captain Bob Murphy has opened up on a sledge he delivered to an opposition player a few years ago, that left him feeling "terrible".
Murphy was speaking about the topic on SEN Breakfast following news that surfaced on Tuesday about the Mark Baguley and Jed Lamb incident.
Lamb allegedly commented on Baguley's physical appearance before the Bomber made a comment about Lamb's father, who was murdered when Lamb was a child.
Baguley confirmed in a statement on Tuesday he was unaware of Lamb's father's passing.
Murphy then went on to talk about an incident he was involved in, when he made a personal sledge towards an opposition player.
Despite admitting he was unaware of the gravity of the situation, Murphy said it made him feel horrible, and said he couldn't apologise enough to the opposition player.
โItโs hard,โ Murphy told SEN Breakfast on Wednesday morning.
โThe one on the weekend, from what Iโve read, that is not hard. Thatโs talking about someoneโs Dad and talking about a birthmark someone has got.
โWe talk about how the line is different for everyone, but nah, thatโs out.
โYouโre not going to get consensus, so if youโre in doubt, you have to leave it out.
โThis was a couple of years ago and we were playing a side, we will keep the names out of it.
โThe Bulldogs are getting belted and Iโm a bit dirty on it.
โIt was in the last quarter and I stand next to my opponent and he has got the initials A.A on his football boot. I said, are you serious? That doesnโt stand for AA (All-Australian) does it? You selfish, you know.
โThen the player turned to me, Iโve never had someone look at me like that and say, thatโs the initials of a family member who has passed.
โI, hands up, didnโt know that and apologised. I felt terrible and couldnโt apologise enough.โ
