St Kilda midfielder Zak Jones has been fined $2000 for striking Demon Clayton Oliver.

Jones can accept the sanction - which was reduced from $3000 - after being charged for an incident that occurred in the final quarter of Sunday's loss to Melbourne.

The Match Review Officer deemed Jones' strike on Oliver as Intentional Conduct, Low Impact and Body Contact, resulting in a sanction for the returning Saint.

Meanwhile, Blues skipper Patrick Cripps has avoided a dangerous tackle charge for his incident involving Crows forward Lachie Murphy.

Cripps' crunching tackle resulted in Murphy re-injuring his neck and was subsequently subbed out of the match.

It was the MRO's view that "Cripps’ actions did not constitute a reportable offence".

Jones' striking charge follows that of Tiger Rhyan Mansell's, who was suspended for one match for his altercation with Magpie Jack Ginnivan during Saturday's win over Collingwood.

Mansell's charge was the only incident that resulted in a suspension from Round 8.
