Hawthorn star Shaun Burgoyne is set to move into second place on the list of most finals played in VFL/AFL history on Friday night when the Hawks take on the Cats at the MCG.

Burgoyne will make his 32nd finals appearances, overtaking Collingwood great Gordon Coventry, who played 31 finals.

Hawthorn's Michael Tuck holds the record, with 39 finals appearances.
