Adelaide, Collingwood, GWS, Port Adelaide, Sydney, West Coast and St Kilda have all named their best and fairest's after a busy night across the country.

Six of the seven awards were handed to first time recipients, as midfielders dominated the counts.

Adelaide

22-year-old midfielder Matt Crouch took home his first Malcolm Blight Medal, after being voted a clear winner ahead of Rory Sloane and Rory Laird.

Crouch enjoyed a breakout season in the league in 2017, and was named on the interchange of the All-Australian side.

"It's a huge honour and something you don't expect," Crouch told the crowd.

"You see the names that have won it before me, so really honoured to be up there tonight.

"I didn't put a lot of thought into (whether I was a chance to win), it's been a really tough week for everyone, but I thought was consistent through the year so I thought that may have helped."

Josh Kelly pushed aside his contract talks to star in 2017, and capped off a strong season with his first Kevin Sheedy Medal.

After earning a spot on the wing in the All-Australian side, Kelly also dominated the Giants' vote count, with Callan Ward and Phil Davis rounding out the top three.

"Josh should be immensely proud of the season he has put together and this honour is well-deserved," GWS coach Leon Cameron said on the night.

"There's no doubt Josh took his game to a new level this year playing a variety of roles and playing with a high level of consistency."

Port Adelaide

After a year out of the game, Power ruckman Paddy Ryder was rewarded for a fine season with his maiden John Cahill Medal.

It wasn't a straight forward count by any means, with key forward Charlie Dixon falling just seven votes short of Ryder.

The ruckman was also named to the 2017 All-Australian side, and was humbled by this award.

"It's just really humbling to be crowned the club champion," Ryder said on the night.

"As a player, I just wanted to come out there and show my love for the game, for my teammates, just try to be as consistent as I can.

"I knew in the past I was able to play some pretty good football, but maybe consistency was my let-down, so I just wanted to play at a high level of football and keep that roll on for as long as I could."

Sydney

Midfielder Luke Parker won his second Bob Skilton Medal on Friday night, after a brilliant season with the Swans.

Parker also triumphed in 2014, and was well clear of Lance Franklin and Jake Lloyd in equal second this time around.

“We know and see every week how much Luke competes – he’s just a fantastic competitor,” Swans coach John Longmire said of Parker.

“In terms of leadership, Luke’s ability to lead took another step forward this year as one of our vice-captains to Josh Kennedy.

"He helps to set the standards around the club and on the ground on match-day. He has the ability to grasp what the team needs at any particular time, and that shows what type of quality person he is.”

Defender Elliot Yeo won his first John Worsfold Medal on Friday night, after a strong season in the backline for the Eagles.

The All-Australian half-back won the vote count by just six, pipping fellow defender Jeremy McGovern for the award.

"It's a pretty surreal feeling, it's such a great honour," Yeo said after the count.

"At the end of 2016 I had a fair few things that I wanted to work on. It was a disappointing year for myself.

"It (form turnaround) definitely came from a lot of hard work, but it also came from having a mentor such as 'Hick' (assistant coach Adrian Hickmott), he's been absolutely phenomenal for myself this year.

"He's one of those coaches who keeps you accountable but also pushes you to the limits he thinks you're capable of."

Young midfielder Sebastian Ross claimed his first Trevor Barker Award on Friday night, after a very strong season with the Saints.

Ross' 2017 campaign saw him named to the 40-man All-Australian squad and become one of the league's best disposal-getters.

"The legacy you left on me, you taught me how to work as a young kid," Ross said about the club's departing veterans after the count.

"It probably took me three or four years to figure it out and those three or four years watching you guys each day in your own life, you just put your head down and your bums up and you worked hard, you're as loyal as they come, you're some of the greatest blokes I've ever met and I just wish you guys well in the future."
