Melbourne are looking at a quieter draft night than recent years, with the Demons having taken multiple first-round selections in each of the past two national talent intakes.
After trading their 2025 first-round pick to Essendon to attain Gippsland's Xavier Lindsay last November, the Demons won't have a pick in this year's count until the second round.
Currently, that pick sits at 24th overall, with Melbourne only having two other picks at 53 and 60.
With a need to add young talent to their list, and also having two promising club-tied teenagers, Craft of the Draft took a look at Melbourne's potential draft plans for 2025.
Melbourne have access to father-son talent Kalani White, the son of ex-Demons ruckman Jeff White, and also have an exciting wingman in Toby Sinnema as part of their Next Generation Academy.
"Kalani White is a key position swingman, and he's also tied to Gold Coast, but there is an assumption he is going to go down the Melbourne route," Craft of the Draft analyst Jonty Ralphsmith said.
"He'd go somewhere in the second round I think, at this point. Obviously, things can change between now and draft night.
"He's really good in the air and got the opportunity to play for Casey, and was a big part of their win against Essendon VFL. Kicked some crucial late goals, has got the ability to play back.
"Toby Sinnema is a pacey, athletic winger who runs all day and has a lethal left foot. Will give them some outside dynamism."
The Demons will likely pick from the open pool of prospects with their opening selection, with key position options seen as the clear list needs, per Craft of the Draft host Mitch Keating.
Eastern Ranges defender Xavier Taylor is seen as one who "might be in that mix" for Melbourne's first selection, with the intercepting backman currently enjoying a stellar U18s National Championships with Vic Metro.
"From a list needs point of view, I think a key defender or a key forward," Keating said.
"I was thinking a ruck as well, but I don't think they'll go to the draft for a ruckman. That's more of a mature recruit type of option for the Demons.
"Kalani White could fit either of those (roles), but looking at the open pool of prospects they could pick, with Pick 24, Xavier Taylor might be in that mix.
"A little undersized, but I think he might be a nice fit."
