In a Southern Hemisphere first, Marvel Stadium and the AFL are set to roll out Amazon's 'Just Walk Out' technology for a checkout-free shopping experience.

The innovative technology will allow footy fans to tap into a shop with their bank card, grab their food and beverages, and get straight back to the game.

Just Walk Out will feature in two outlets known as 'The Runner', one for food and beverage, and the other, a bar.

The technology employs artificial intelligence-like computer vision, which can accurately determine which products customers take out of the store.

Kylie Rogers, AFL EGM Customer and Commercial, believes the new technology will make Marvel Stadium the most technically advanced sporting venue in the country.

"We are continually looking at new ways to innovate and modernise our fan experience, and we know everyone will love the fast, convenient experience that Amazon's Just Walk Out technology will deliver," she said in a league statement.

"Ultimately, this is about the fans, bringing them a next-generation stadium experience so they can spend more time enjoying the footy."

Just Walk Out technology is currently used by venues across the U.S., including TD Garden, home of the NBA's Boston Celtics and NHL's Boston Bruins, and Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.

Dilip Kumar, Vice President of AWS (Amazon Web Services) Applications, is excited about what the technology can bring to AFL fans.

"We're proud to bring our convenient checkout experience to fans across the globe so they can get what they need and get back to their seats faster, never missing a moment of the game," he said.
