The manager of Richmond star Dion Prestia has explained his client's presence in a photo uploaded to social media that was captioned 'crawling from pub to pub'.

Richmond and the AFL are expected to clear Prestia of any wrongdoing according to Fox Footy's Tom Morris, with Prestia's agent Marty Pask notifying 7 News that the Tigers midfielder had gone to collect take-away within five kilometres of his residence.

Pask added that Prestia had posed in the photo along with his fellow housemates.

The Instagram story has sparked intrigue by the league, with AFL players required to follow strict directions by AFL and the Victorian Government.

The league were believed to be investigating whether Prestia did breach any directions set in place from the league and the government.

A local community initiative to have Richmond residents support local business and venture to several local businesses over the weekend has been a cause of concern for the Victorian Government.

The AFL has looked to navigate it's season through the pandemic, with the 2021 Grand Final now likely to be played at Optus Stadium.

The current Melbourne lockdown has been extended to September 2 following a constant amount of daily COVID-19 positive cases in the community.
