Dual premiership coach Malcolm Blight has listed his rankings for coach of the year.

Blight believes six blokes in the top job have stood out this season, naming Tigers premiership coach Damien Hardwick at the top of the list.

"Damien Hardwick is still top of the pile, they're always underrated, premiership coaches," Blight told SEN.

"They (the Tigers) have performed better (than last year when Hardwick was coach of the year). The biggest scalp to get the following year is to beat the premiers so it's actually harder I reckon to stay there."

Blight also said North Melbourne coach Brad Scott deserves plaudits for nearly leading the Kangaroos to the finals.

"Up until last Saturday they (the Kangaroos) were a chance to play in the finals and everyone said they'd finish bottom four," he said.

"If you look at cold, hard facts those guys have done a really good job with their teams."
