Collingwood midfielder Beau McCreery is racing against the clock to return for the Magpies' blockbuster qualifying final against Adelaide next week, with reports emerging that the 24-year-old missed training on Friday.

According to 7 News' Xander McGuire, McCreery is now just a 50/50 chance to feature in the 2025 AFL Final Series opener as he continues to battle the foot concern that he sustained against Melbourne in Round 24.

McCreery was taken to the rooms to be assessed after his foot was "stomped on" against the Demons, though he ultimately returned to the field and played out the match.

In a report following Collingwood's six-point win, McGuire believed there was initial hope that McCreery would be available to be selected for week one of the Finals after successful scans, with the idea that the 2023 premiership player would "play through the pain".

However, it appears his timeline back to full health is now unclear.
