AFL legend Luke Hodge has officially retired, with Brisbane's three-point semi final loss to GWS on Saturday night marking his final game.
The 35-year old hangs up the boots after 346 games for Hawthorn and Brisbane as one of the most decorated players of all time.
He is a four-time premiership player, three as captain, two-time Norm Smith medallist and three-time All Australian.
It appeared that teammate Jarryd Lyons offered to carry him off the field after the match, with Hodge declining.
Lions coach Chris Fagan confirmed Hodge's retirement in his post-match press conference on Saturday night.
However, Hodge will remain at Brisbane next year, with his role still to be confirmed.
"That's his last game for the club," Fagan said.
"He won't be lost to the club, I can't tell you what his role will be at the moment because we haven't sorted that out fully."
"He's hung (the boots) up, the old fella. He's finished on a high note and he's been unbelievable for us."
While Hodge hadn't official confirmed to the club he was calling it a day, Fagan said "I sort of knew."
"I sort of knew, but I never directly asked him the question," Fagan said.
"I just said, 'Is that it?' He goes, 'that's it'. So, that's it."
