The Western Bulldogs have confirmed that utility Toby McLean has ruptured his ACL.

The injury was sustained at training on Saturday, with McLean now set to undergo surgery on the setback to his right knee.

McLean suffered a similar injury to the same knee in September last year, which placed the 25-year-old in the casualty ward for months in preparation to the 2021 season.

The midfield/forward utility returned to the Bulldogs' side in Round 14, managing three matches in what was a successful return to the AFL.

The latest setback will bring McLean's 2021 campaign to an end, with the luckless Bulldog now facing further rehabilitation.
