The Brisbane Lions have delisted five players in their first list lodgement of the off-season, with experienced midfielder/defender Ryan Harwood headlining the cull.

Harwood has be joined by Jarrad Jansen, Jonathan Freeman, Josh Clayton and rookie Blake Grewar, who have all been told their future lies away from Brisbane.

“This time of the season is always difficult, especially when you have to let good people go. On behalf of the Brisbane Lions we’d like to thank the players for their service to the Club,” Brisbane's General Manager of Football Operations David Noble told lions.com.au.

Over the course of his eight-year career with the Lions, Harwood played 81 games, and averaged 15.1 disposals and 3.5 marks per game.

Jansen played eight career games for the Lions over the past two seasons, while Clayton (two games) and Freeman (14) both had chances to impress, with the trio all joining the club in 2014.

Grewar was selected in last season's Rookie Draft, although did not do enough to keep his spot on the list.
