Young Brisbane midfielder Jarrod Berry believes the Lions should look at Richmond's premiership triumph last season to inspire them to know that anything can happen.
The Tigers came from 13th in 2016 to win it all in 2017, and Berry suggests the Lions shouldn't put a ceiling on what they want to achieve this season under Chris Fagan.
“The coaches are always real positive with what we’re doing well and what we need to improve on,” Berry told SEN Breakfast.
“I guess you really don’t want to put a cap on success. We’ll go out there to win every game we can this year, hopefully have a great result and climb up the ladder a bit further.
“Us younger boys have got that experience now, a few games under our belts. You should expect more from us this year hopefully.
“We can’t put a roof on what we achieve.”
Berry has already cemented himself in the Lions' midfield, playing 16 games in his debut season in 2017 and averaging 13.7 disposals and 3.8 tackles per game.
Brisbane won just three games in 2016 but progressed to win five in 2017, and won four of their final 12 matches to set themselves on the right path this season.
With the additions of veteran Luke Hodge and classy forward Charlie Cameron, the Lions will be looking to build on their five-win season last year, and Berry believes they can do just that.
“The end of the season last year was probably where all our work started to come together,” Berry said.
“We started moving the ball well and actually be able to cut up teams. That has transitioned into this pre-season. Spots are very competitive.
“The actual pre-season was tough and gruelling in pretty hot conditions up here. It’s hopefully going to hold us in good stead for the season to come.”
Brisbane open their season at Etihad Stadium against St Kilda on Saturday, March 24.
