Brisbane defender Darcy Gardiner is being closely monitored in the build up to Saturday night’s preliminary final against Geelong as the 25-year-old battles a knee injury, per AFL.com.

Gardiner is believed to have sustained the injury at training during the week and has been limited to a light routine.

Emergency Jack Payne is reportedly awaiting the potential last-minute news from the Lions doctors.

Payne made his debut this season as a part-time replacement for the injured Harris Andrews.
