Former Western Bulldogs player Lin Jong will play with Montmorency Football Netball Club in the Northern Football Netball League next season.
The announcement was made on Thursday, with both the club and the player confirming it on social media.
Following a 65 game career in the AFL with the Bulldogs, Jong retired towards the end of the 2021 season. He made just one appearance in the AFL for the Dogs in season 2021.
Plagued by injuries throughout his career, Jong made one final attempt to get back to senior football. Sadly, time ran out and he was convinced it was the "right time to hang up the boots."
Despite his bad luck with injuries in the AFL, Jong still managed to walk away with two VFL premiership medals as well as the Norm Goss Memorial Medal for best on ground in the 2016 triumph.
Jong was clearly happy with the decision, taking to Twitter and Instagram to announce that he was now a "Swoopy boi".
"Finally get the chance to wear the [black and white] with @montmorencyfootynetball" he posted.
MFNC Senior Coach Garry Ramsay said that Jong was a terrific addition to the senior squad for the upcoming season.
“We see Lin as a tremendous addition to the MFNC", Ramsay said.
“His skills and attack on the footy are already well known and we see him as a pivotal part of our midfield. Naturally, a player of Lin’s skill and experience would be highly desirable to any Club and we are delighted that he has elected to play at Mont”
