Adelaide's stoic three-point win over Collingwood has seemingly torn the lid off of South Australia.
The Crows all but secured the minor premiership for the third time in their history in front of a record crowd at Adelaide Oval (54,283).
The West Lakes club also ended one of its hoodoos with the victory over the Pies, claiming the four points for the first time since 2016 after a litany of close finishes in recent years.
But it was Adelaide who flipped the script of the former Kings of the Close Finish, whilst also sending a warning sign to the rest of the competition.
"We knew eventually we would get one," Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks said post-game.
"We'd learned a lot of lessons from those previous battles, and tonight we were able to find a way to do it."
A pair of home finals await Adelaide, which has the state buzzing, to the point where Nicks believes that the "lid is not on".
However, that narrative remains external to the West Lakes club, which wholeheartedly believes there is plenty of work to do.
"The lid obviously is not on, is it? We broke the record tonight for our biggest home crowd at the stadium," Nicks said.
"The lid is not on in South Australia, but the lid is on within the four walls of our footy Club, because we know we have to stay in that space.
"But I've even come out and said I think South Australia should be rocking at the moment, and it is; that is a huge crowd.
"That win tonight puts us in a position that allows us to do that again and get South Australia up and about - our supporters have done it tough and now they are in a space to rip the lid off.
"Internally, we're not doing that, though; we are so focused on finding our best again, and that is the mindset going forward."
