AFL great Leigh Matthews has revealed his predictions for the 2019 season, courtesy of 7AFL.

Matthews is surprisingly tipping the reigning premiers West Coast to be the team that will disappoint.

The Eagles prevailed over Collingwood in last year's grand final without stars Nic Naitanui and Andrew Gaff, the former of which is targeting a return to the field around round 10.

Matthews believes the Tigers will win the premiership, with Melbourne, Collingwood and Essendon closing out his top four.

It would mark the first time since 2010 that four Victorian clubs finish the home and away season in the top four.

Matthews is backing Nat Fyfe to claim his second Brownlow Medal and Port Adelaide to be the side that surprises people.

The Power finished 10th last season but are widely expected to slide further down the ladder in 2019.
