Gold Coast superstar Gary Ablett has been withdrawn from the Suns’ clash with Richmond at Metricon Stadium on Saturday night.

Ablett missed Gold Coast’s loss against the Western Bulldogs in Cairns last weekend, and has only played three matches since round 12.

The midfielder has been replaced in the side by Jesse Lonergan.

The 33-year-old missed last round due to a hamstring injury, and failed to prove his fitness ahead of his side’s clash with the Tigers.

Ablett joins Suns co-captain Steven May as a late withdrawal from this game, as May was removed from the 22 on Friday morning after failing to recover from his own hamstring troubles.

Richmond will enter the match as selected.
