Richmond legend Kevin Bartlett says Essendon forward, Joe Daniher, will be the best player in the competition in two years.

Daniher has been in brilliant form this season, despite his at times errant kicking at goal.

The 23-year-old has kicked 26 goals in the opening nine rounds and won the ANZAC Medal for best afield in Essendon's win over Collingwood on ANZAC Day.

It has been clear to see for some time that Daniher possess the talent to be a genuine star of the competition.

However, inconsistency and inaccuracy has let him down early in his career.

But in career best form, he has seemed to have found his kicking boots the past fortnight with consecutive bags of five goals and Bartlett thinks Daniher will undoubtedly be the league's most dominant player.

“In two years Daniher will be the best player in the game,” Bartlett said on SEN radio after Daniher's performance in the Bombers' 61-point win over West Coast at Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Daniher kicked five straight, had 18 disposals, laid two tackles and and took three marks in another eye catching performance.

He has kicked 26.18 so far this season, the worst accuracy of any of the top 15 goal kickers in the competition. His inaccuracy was at its worst in round six against Melbourne, when he booted 1.6 and an out on the full.

When he does kick straight, he can absolutely tear games apart, as Collingwood, Geelong and now West Coast can all attest to this season.

He has all the attributes. Height, good hands, a thumping boot and he has brilliant agility and speed for a man of his size, making him a difficult match-up.  If he can get his kicking right, Bartlett's prediction may well come to fruition.
