North Melbourne youngster Oscar Junker will miss the beginning of the regular season after suffering a broken leg last Saturday.
Junker broke his tibia during the Kangaroos' practice match against Werribee and will be sidelined for up to four months, which will not see him return to training until round seven or eight.
The 19-year-old, who co-captained the Western Jets in the TAC Cup last season, was recruited with pick 28 in last year's Rookie Draft.
