Carlton are hopeful both ruckman Matthew Kreuzer and midfielder Matthew Kennedy will line-up for the Blues against the Suns on Saturday at Etihad Stadium.

Carlton's Head of Football Andrew McKay told the club's website the pair will still need to prove their fitness during the week, but are certainly in the mix to take the field in round two.

“Matthew Kreuzer sustained a minor groin injury against Richmond in the last game, and obviously went off the ground. We treated it quite conservatively but he has to get through training at the end of the week, and we're hopeful that we will,” McKay told carltonfc.com.au.

“Matthew Kennedy obviously went off early in the game too which was a real blow for us. He sprained his ankle, the medial side of his ankle that he sprained. Again, he has to get through training this week before he can be eligible for selection.

“Both of them have to get through training at the end of the week before they're considered for selection."

McKay has confirmed Tom Williamson will miss the next few weeks as he continues to struggle with a sore back, while Matt Shaw and Darcy Lang are now available for selection.

Defender Alex Silvagni suffered a minor hamstring injury in the Northern Blues' VFL practice match on Thursday, and will be out for the next two to three weeks.
