The AFL has officially reduced the 2020 season to 17 rounds with every club playing each other once amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday afternoon, AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan said the first four fixtures will go ahead, but when they are played remains uncertain.

He said that a final decision regarding round one would likely be made by the end of Tuesday.

โ€œThis is, and will be, a difficult time for the whole of the Australian public,โ€ AFL chief Gillon McLachlan said.

A decision is yet to be reached on whether or not the AFLW is played this weekend.

There is also the possibility of a supplementary playing lists to help clubs.

Should a player test positive to COVID-19, the AFL will "down tools" for 14 days.

Additionally, the VFL, SANFL, NEAFL, WAFL and TSL and their women's will all be postponed.
