Former Saints great Leigh Montagna believes both Collingwood and Hawthorn will bow out of finals in straight sets.

In a season where both clubs scraped into the top four, the Hawks were convincingly beaten by Richmond on Friday night and now run into a red-hot Melbourne next weekend.

The Pies make the daunting travel to Perth to play the Eagles tonight and a loss would put them against the Swans or Giants in the semi-final.

"I've got a feeling this year that both Hawthorn and Collingwood will go out in straight sets," Montagna told Triple M.

"Melbourne will go in red-hot favourites Friday night, I think they'll beat Hawthorn.

"And I'm nervous Collingwood will lose tonight to West Coast. And then they're going to have to play either GWS or Sydney.

“In Melbourne, I know, but I wouldn’t wanna be facing the Giants and I wouldn’t wanna be facing Buddy Franklin and the Sydney Swans.

“I’m just a bit nervous for Collingwood fans… don’t start tearing me down on social media!”
