2025 AFL Draft prospect Sam Grlj is the latest Oakleigh Charger to make waves in the Coates Talent League, as Zero Hanger's Craft of the Draft 'Introducing' series continues, previewing some of this season's leading draft talent.
Since moving to the midfield, Grlj has dominated Victoria's premier U18 competition, averaging 21 disposals and five tackles per game while converting for three goals already this season. These efforts have seen him skyrocket up AFL draft boards, now in top-20 conversations.
"Grlj is one of those players who operates in more of that 20-25 disposal range but feels like he has so much more of it because he makes every possession count," Craft of the Draft analyst Jonty Ralphsmith said of Grlj.
"He's particularly dangerous as a clearance winner because not only is he quick, he's a one-touch player who hits the ball at speed before backing himself to accelerate through traffic and burst out the front of stoppage. As a centre bounce player, that makes him extremely damaging."
