Izak Rankine has placed fears into the Adelaide camp after pulling up lame during Wednesday's training session, immediately signalling to his hamstring.

Rankine has a history of soft-tissue problems, but the Crows are hopeful he'll be made available for Friday's match simulation against Port Adelaide.

"He just pulled up a little bit sore there," Crows backline coach Jack Hombsch said on SEN.

"To be honest, he is getting assessed (on Wednesday afternoon). We don't know too much yet. Hopefully he's okay.

"At this stage, we're anticipating he'll be okay for Friday. But we don't know. The club will find out more in the next couple of hours and update when we know."

Rankine is still serving his four-match suspension from 2025, and will miss Round 1 against Collingwood.

His injury intrigue comes as the West Lakes club will miss key defender Mark Keane (fractured leg) and utility Dan Curtin (knee surgery) for the long term.

Recruit Callum Ah Chee is in a race to debut against the Pies in the season opener following his hamstring injury in last week's State of Origin clash.

Mitch Hinge is on light duties at the club as he tends to back soreness, while Sid Draper will be eased into match simulation and practice matches, with the club flagging groin issues.
