Those of a Sydney Swans persuasion face an anxious wait, after two of their very best sustained injuries in another powerful showing on Saturday night.

The Swans were fast starters, putting 43 points past reigning premiers Brisbane before an undermanned Lions side could register a major of their own.

The margin ballooned out to as much as 53 points in the third term, before the Lions clawed back some pride, ultimately going down by 44 points.

As entertaining as the game was for Sydney fans, they will no doubt wake up this morning uneasy, after superstars Errol Gulden and Isaac Heeney left the SCG with injury concerns in the final quarter.

Gulden came from the field clutching his shoulder after hitting the turf hard in a Lincoln McCarthy tackle, mere minutes before Heeney rendered himself unfit to continue with a hamstring complaint.

Dean Cox was matter of fact when discussing the concerns, in the aftermath.

"It's a shoulder of some sort. We're going to get that looked at in the next day or two," Cox said of Gulden, post-match.

"We'll assess it. We've only got a five-day break going into Hawthorn (at the MCG, come Thursday).

"We've got to make sure we do whatever we can to get him right as quickly as we can, which might be Monday, Tuesday, it might be a little bit longer. We'll wait for that and then work our way through it from there."

"It's tough to commit to anything (regarding the injury's severity). He's walking around our change room, sat in our meeting.

"It'll be what it will be, unfortunately, so hopefully it is quick. If it is longer than normal then so be it as well."

Cox appeared to be more optimistic about Isaac Heeney's early prognosis, albeit with a similar lack of uncertainty.

"He came out of the centre bounce and felt his hamstring, and it was something that we don't want to risk at all," Cox said.

"We'll assess it in the next couple of days, as well as Errol, and work out if there is any damage and if there is, what is it? If not, then great, he'll get on the plane and go to (play) Hawthorn."

Unfortunately, these latest setbacks add to what are already lengthy injury histories for the two Harbour City stars. The Swans may choose a conservative approach, after setting the pace for the rest of the competition with two impressive performances to start the season.
