Australian NBA star and mad Hawthorn fan Joe Ingles suggested that Roughead's good nature of offering guidance and direction to young players is idiotic following his demotion to the VFL, according to the Herald Sun.

The Utah Jazz shooter, a close mate to Roughead, stays in touch with his Australian life and keeps a close eye on the Hawks from the States.

Video footage emerged of Roughead offering guidance to ex-Brisbane defender Reuben William a fortnight ago, that happened to go viral.

Ingles was asked if he'd offer advice to Team USA or Canada - a la Roughead - in their upcoming international matches in Perth and Melbourne in the coming weeks.

"I saw him (Roughead) last night. He’s an idiot," Ingles said.

"Nah. I think it was a young fella trying to get back into the AFL. I don’t think Steph Curry will want my advice after he wins the title they have a chance of winning.

"But that’s a credit to Roughie. He could have easily gone down there, sooked and not enjoyed it but he’s gone down there, embraced it and is playing well."

Roughead was praised by the way he went about being demoted to the VFL.

However, Ingles has realigned himself with the Box Hill Hawks whilst Roughead plays for them.

"I’m a Box Hill fan until further notice."
