Adelaide ruckman Reilly O'Brien has signed a new three-year deal with the Crows, turning his back on free agency and reported rival interest.

O'Brien was eligible for free agency for the first time in his career in 2025, with the previously unsigned ruckman garnering interest from rival clubs, including Brisbane.

Attention was set on O'Brien's call, with the Crows tied to Essendon's own ruckman and free agent in Sam Draper.

With O'Brien choosing to remain at West Lakes, the decision likely puts an end to Draper potential return to his home state.

O'Brien, a product from Victoria, said he has made Adelaide his home since joining the Crows over a decade ago.

โ€œAdelaide has become my home over the past 10-11 years and I couldn't see myself anywhere else. I love this Club, this city and this state,โ€ O'Brien said.

โ€œI'm so proud of how far this group has come over the past few years, and I am very excited and feel very privileged to be a part of this group moving forward.

โ€œI am looking forward to continuing to grow and I am excited for the hard work we have ahead to keep improving and reaching our potential.โ€

The 29-year-old has been Adelaide's first-string ruckman for seven seasons, taking the baton from Sam Jacobs in 2019.

A year later, O'Brien enjoyed a strong season to take out Adelaide's best and fairest award, having averaged 13.65 disposals and 27.18 hitouts per game in the short-lengthed season.

O'Brien's numbers have continued to grow since, with the Crows big man leading the AFL for hitouts in 2024, and sits first overall currently for this year.

โ€œReilly has taken his game to another level this year and it's been on show for all to see,โ€ Crows list boss Justin Reid said.

โ€œBehind the scenes and away from game day, his contribution is equally as important.

โ€œHe's a highly respected team mate and leader who shows genuine care for others, and he has the unique ability to bring people together.

โ€œIn terms of building a strong culture and positive environment, Reilly is the type of player every club needs.โ€

O'Brien is set to face Port Adelaide on Saturday night for Showdown LVIII.
