Richmond co-captain Toby Nankervis appears prepared to wear the weight of his impending Tribunal hearing, scheduled after the tall Tiger caught Swan, and former teammate, Jake Lloyd with a crude head-high bump.

Lloyd was taken from the MCG during Sydney's Thursday night loss to Richmond after failing a concussion test following contact made with the point of Nankervis' shoulder.

The incident was referred directly to the Tribunal by Match Review Officer Michael Christian, with Nankervis expected to be levelled with a multi-week ban.

Speaking ahead of his Tuesday night date, Nankervis told 9News that he had already reached out to apologise to his ex-teammate of three seasons, adding that he expected more of himself.

"I sent Jake a message," Nankervis expressed.

"It's obviously disappointing for me, I never want to see anyone concussed.

"Absolutely I have (let the team down). As the leader of the footy club that's not good enough. I need to be better than that and I take full responsibility for it."

Should Nankervis be hit with an expected three-week sentence, he will miss the Tigers' clashes against West Coast, Hawthorn and Melbourne.
