Fears have gone into the Hawthorn camp as gun midfielder Will Day was helped from training on Thursday, with club medical staff holding his right shoulder as he grimaced in pain.

He was taken from the field and exited in a car, with the star Hawk expected to undergo scans following immediate treatment.

Upon closer inspection, the footage shows that Day's right shoulder is dislocated.

It was the same shoulder that ended his 2024 campaign when he suffered a complex collarbone injury, which required surgery.

Day was already on a modified training program, tending to foot problems that limited him to six games in 2025.

The 24-year-old is recovering from a severe navicular injury that prematurely ended his 2025 campaign, but was moving well at the club's Monday session.

Day had made his presence felt immediately, delivering a thunderous tackle on Hawthorn's new head of development, Daniel Giansiracusa, early into the session.

However, Day sat out the subsequent 10-minute match simulation, observing from the sidelines as another young midfielder stole the spotlight.

More to come.
