Brisbane forward coach Stuart Dew is joining Josh Carr's coaching ranks at Port Adelaide after back-to-back premierships at the Brisbane Lions.

Dew joined Brisbane in 2024 in a part-time role and then transitioned into a full-time forward coach role in 2025.

Dew will serve as the senior assistant to senior coach Josh Carr, leading the midfield group for the 2026 season.

Following Dew's 206-game playing career, across Port Adelaide and Hawthorn, he immediately transitioned into coaching, starting in a development role at Sydney in 2010.

From 2018 to 2023, Dew was the senior coach of Gold Coast, his first head coaching position, after finals success with the Swans as an assistant coach.

Stuart Dew spoke fondly of his time at the Lions.

"I would like to thank the Brisbane Lions Football Club for the opportunity to be a part of such a successful era for the club,” Dew said.

"From the moment I walked into the club, to winning the 2024 and 2025 Premierships, it has been such a wonderful experience.

"I will miss the club, players and the people who created an environment that made it so easy to come into work every day.

"In particular, I would like to thank Chris Fagan and Danny Daly for their support as I move to a new challenge at the Port Adelaide Football Club.

"I will be forever grateful for the experience, and the club is in great hands."

Dew also had this to say about his new opportunity.

"I couldn't be more excited to be heading back to my former club as a senior assistant coach," he said.

"To work alongside my old teammate Josh Carr is a great opportunity, and one I am really looking forward to. I have great respect for Josh and his vision for the club moving forward, and the Port Adelaide playing list is full of talent.

"I now look forward to the next challenge, and I am eager to get started."

Port Adelaide will look to bounce back next season with a revamped coaching group for 2026.

"We know our fans will be thrilled with this announcement, and we share in their excitement. Stuart is not only a fantastic coach; he's a premiership player for our club who has always been held in the highest regard by our supporters.

"Our refreshed coaching panel, led by Josh Carr, is in excellent shape as we begin preparations for the 2026 season."
