While Hawthorn's draft plan isn't as clear-cut as other AFL clubs, there are still some list needs they will aim to fill in November. Currently, the Hawks hold picks 7, 25, 55, and 68.
One area that could use improvement is their midfield, or more specifically, their outside midfield, as they lack depth to cover the pace on the wings when players like Will Day have suffered injuries.
Hawthorn's midfield strong suit has been the inside players this season, with Jai Newcombe and James Worpel notably being their "key playmakers."
However, Craft of the Draft analyst Jonty Ralphsmith believes adding "run and dash" will be important for the Hawks moving forward.
"The run and dash is really important for a team which certainly thrives on fast ball movement like [Hawthorn]," Ralphsmith said.
"We know how good their small forwards are. When you think about the way they played last year, when they were at their best, they were really hard to stop.
"Having a midfielder with good fleet of foot, with good speed and really good ball use in the ilk of a Sam Grlj or a Jevan Phillipou would be what the Hawks would be after, if possible, with that early selection."
The Hawks do not have many projected first-round picks connected to the club this year, but father-son prospect Kobe Williams could become a late draft option. He's averaged close to 21 disposals and three marks per game with the Western Jets in the Coates Talent League.
Additionally, Changkuoth Jiath's brother, Goy, could be a project the Hawks take on as one of their NGA products, Jiath currently playing with the Gippsland Power.
