Hawthorn have appointed Brisbane assistant Daniel Webster as their new AFLW senior coach.
The Hawks narrowed their search for Bec Goddard's replacement in the new year, with the appointment of Webster ending a near three-month search for their third senior coach.
Webster lands at Waverley after two-and-a-half years with the Lions under premiership coach Craig Starcevich as the club's midfield coach, closely working with Brisbame-turned-Hawthorn star Emily Bates.
Coming off a flag-winning campaign with the Lions, Webster will now lead the Hawks following their three-win season under Goddard.
“I am incredibly honoured and humbled to be named as Hawthorn's next AFLW Senior Coach,” Webster said in a club statement.
“From afar Hawthorn has always been a club I've admired greatly, and I am now privileged to be part of the brown and gold family.
“I feel very grateful to be trusted with the responsibility of driving elite standards, competitive behaviour and getting the best out of an immensely talented AFLW playing group that has shown great promise.
“I can't wait to meet all the players, coaches and staff and get down to work as we begin our journey on building a Hawthorn team that our members and fans are proud of, while striving for the ultimate success.”
Webster has held previous senior positions with Queensland clubs Aspley and Mt Gravatt, as well as roles in the state's development pathways, to gain over a decade of experience in the coaching field.
The Hawks claimed wins over the Western Bulldogs, Sydney and Port Adelaide last year to amass a 14th-place finish - one ladder spot ahead of their Season Seven finish.
Goddard led the Hawks across their opening two seasons in the AFLW, winning six of their 20 matches.
