GWS are understood to have sacked newly-appointed head of development coach Robbie Chancellor after his arrest for drug possession.

Reports from earlier this month revealed Chancellor was found with a white substance in Sydney late last year, with the Giants coach admitting to police he had purchased cocaine prior to his arrest.

He faced Newtown Local Court in January and pleaded guilty to possessing the drug.

“The Giants are incredibly disappointed by Robbie's actions which are in no way aligned with the values and behaviours of our organisation,” GWS football boss Jason McCartney told News Corp.

“Robbie has made a serious error and understands he has let a number of people down.”

According to 7 News Melbourne, Chancellor has since been relieved of his duties at GWS, ending his short tenure with the New South Wales side.

Chancellor joined the Giants as their new head of development last September, venturing north from Victoria after an impressive stint with the Western Jets.

Chancellor had also held roles with Melbourne, Hawthorn and St Kilda as he built a promising coaching career.

The Giants are yet to officially address Chancellor's arrest or his reported sacking.
