GWS coach Adam Kingsley said the reason his side didn't win the Round 6 clash against Adelaide wasn't due to key personnel missing.

Jesse Hogan was a significant absence as the Giants managed only four goals on Saturday, and only generated 14 scores from 43 inside 50s, which is well below their yearly average.

Despite the conditions not promoting fast and slick ball movement, the Crows' stinginess was on show, while Kingsley declared his club's brand wasn't on display.

Hogan was touch-and-go for the contest, but was taken from the game as more of a "precaution".

"Pretty close," Kingsley said in his post-match address.

"He pulled up a bit sore and didn't quite get through the week. He couldn't train. So we thought, more precautionary, but he would've been handy, but he wouldn't have had a heap of opportunities either.

"We generate enough inside 50s. Our ball use, we didn't do it well enough, so missing people isn't the reason why we didn't win that game.

"We didn't play our Giants brand of footy, and that was evident for everyone to watch."

Both sides struggled to make the most of their opportunities on the day, kicking a combined 11 goals and 21 behinds.

Adelaide ran at an efficiency rate of 41.1 per cent, which is 11 per cent below their average, while the Giants were 15 per cent under their week-to-week figure (49.8%).

Goal kickers Riley Thilthorpe, Jake Stringer and Aaron Cadman all missed very gettable opportunities on the day, which Kingsley noted the issue as league-wide.

"I thought we had some shots we should've kicked," he said.

"I'm sure (Matthew) Nicksy will say the same. I don't know why. We've been saying the same thing for a long time now.

"As a competition, it hasn't really improved. We'll talk about routines. We'll talk about getting in the right mental state.

"I don't know if we forget to do it, or sometimes you just miss. It just happens."
