GWS have confirmed Academy product Josaia Delana has re-signed with the club for a further 12 months, securing his stay in the orange and charcoal until the end of next year.

Delana, who joined the Giants via last year's draft period as a category B rookie, is one of the few Western Sydney natives in the AFL.

His time in the Giants Academy helped strengthen his prospects for the AFL, with the lively forward having since debuted for the club.

Delana has played a total of three games under senior coach Adam Kingsley, making his debut against Sydney in Round 8.

He has been the tactical sub in his past two games, averaging five disposals and three tackles per appearance to start his career.

โ€œI'm very excited for the journey ahead. I was very fortunate to get drafted by the club and to get another year here is a dream,โ€ Delana said of his fresh contract.

โ€œIt's a great culture at the club. Theres no other club I'd want to go to. The culture, the community, the fans, to the people in-house with the coaches and the playing group โ€“ I love it all.โ€

โ€œTo think only six months ago my name was being chucked around on whether I'd be drafted or not and then to think about all that I've accomplished in the six months after is pretty special.โ€

The 19-year-old is one of four debutants for GWS this year, with James Leake, Nick Madden and Cody Angove all making their maiden appearance in 2025.
