Gold Coast coach Damien Hardwick couldn't help but laugh when vision of his "obscene gesture" during Sunday's clash with GWS resurfaced on AFL360.
Hardwick's response was captured by broadcaster Fox Footy after umpire Nathan Williamson denied the Suns a free-kick for insufficient intent.
Giants substitute Jake Stringer torpedoed the football from half back to the forward line with no teammates in sight, before the ball eventually trickled out of bounds, which more often than not, would've been penalised.
But to Hardwick's dismay, it wasn't.
"I love Nathan Williamson, the umpire that made the decision, but I thought โoh, good, we're going to have one last crack at it', and then when he called the boundary throw-in, I was like โwhat?! What?!'" Hardwick said on Monday night.
The vision then quickly turned to the Gold Coast coach's box, and in particular, Hardwick's reaction to the non-call.
"It was a curious day of umpiring..." "OH WAS IT, GERARD? WAS IT?!" ๐@hardwick_damien was NOT happy with this call late in the Suns' thriller against GWS...
Be careful Dimma, we saw with Bailey Smith that the AFL doesn't like it when you do this ๐ #AFL360 pic.twitter.com/tCW41TL46T

"Anyway, oh, look ... I hope you (aren't)โ oh, no. Oh, you have too! You blokes, you've killed me with that.
"Oh, it was one of those ones โ and look, it should have been insufficient intent, we know that, I think. But at the end of the day, the game was dead and buried, so we move on pretty quickly.
"Although, the (middle) finger salute might get me in a bit of trouble, you blokes."
The incident has led the AFL to fine Hardwick $2000 for the gesture, with Hardwick and the Suns reportedly set to seek whether Fox Footy will stump up the fee instead, given the incident was not shown on broadcast footage.

Harley Reid and Bailey Smith were fined $1000 for making similar gestures during matches earlier this season.
The pair of emerging superstars were both sanctioned by the Match Review Officer (MRO) for the salute.
In Smith's case, he was punished twice for the act, with the fee increasing to $1,875.
