Greater Western Sydney defender Aidan Corr will miss the Giants' season opener against Adelaide after suffering a hand injury last weekend.

The defender landed awkwardly on his hand during the Giants' JLT Series win over North Melbourne on Friday night, and while scans revealed he hadn't broken anything, he has injured the capsule at the bottom of his hand.

He'll join Stephen Coniglio (knee) and Brett Deledio (calf) on the sidelines for the opening round, as coach Leon Cameron believes Corr could be unavailable for the next month or so.

"Those guys (Corr and Coniglio) no doubt would have been playing round one, but that's life and there's no doubt a lot of clubs have to put up with that," Cameron said on AFL Tonight.

Corr only managed three games in 2016 after suffering a serious ankle injury in round three.
