Geelong have signed VFL premiership coach Mark Corrigan from the Casey Demons, appointing the highly-rated mentor to lead their own reserves from 2023.

Corrigan, who previously plied his trade at Kardinia Park between 2011-2014, leaves the Demons following their triumphant campaign.

The Demons claimed the VFL premiership thanks to a dominant season with Corrigan at the wheel, amassing a 20-1 record.

Corrigan departs Casey atop the summit of the second-tier competition, venturing to the Cats after their 14th-placed finish in the VFL.

“Mark has strong experience in the coaching and development of young players and we're thrilled to have his football expertise overseeing our VFL program," Geelong football boss Simon Lloyd said in a club statement.

“Mark's knowledge will ensure our players will continue to build their capabilities in our development system to allow them to be in the position to take their opportunities at AFL level.”

Corrigan leaves the Demons after two seasons and replaces outgoing Cats coach Shane O'Bree on a three-year deal.

Geelong have confirmed that O'Bree will take on a role with the club's AFL department as a midfield and list assistant.
