Geelong forward Gryan Miers has put pen to paper, extending his time at Kardinia Park for another two seasons, taking him until the end of 2028.

Miers has quickly become a significant contributor for the Cats, playing as a high half-forward who helps in defence and is lethal with his disposal.

The 26-year-old was already contracted until the end of 2026 when he would've become a free agent, with the new deal now taking him to a decade at the club, where he'll reach unrestricted free agency status.

Miers' journey to Geelong fit the mould of the club's unique and bold recruiting plan, as he was taken with Pick 57 in the 2017 National Draft after spending time at the Geelong Falcons.

To date, the Grovedale product has played 138 games, including the 2022 premiership win over Sydney.

The following season, Miers broke the record for most goal assists in a home and away season, topping Brisbane champion Jason Akermanis.

Geelong EGM of Football Andrew Mackie recognised how valuable the right-footer is to the club and its prospects, and extending him is a reflection of that.

"Gryan is an integral part of our playing group who brings clear attributes on the field and continues to develop strong leadership away from it," Mackie said.

"He is a valuable part of our list, and it's great news for those involved with our club to have him in the Hoops until at least the end of 2028."
