Joel Selwood and Jonathon Brown have been named the 2025 premiership cup presenters.

The pair have had their fair share of success throughout their playing careers, combining for seven premierships.

Selwood retired as a four-time flag hero for Geelong, finishing his career on top of the mountain as he led the Cats to the ultimate glory in 2022.

He also featured in the club's 2007, 2009 and 2011 triumphs.

If Geelong were to win, it would be fitting for Selwood to hand the premiership cup to his former coach, Chris Scott, as well as Patrick Dangerfield, the player who succeeded him as Cats captain.

"I'm extremely honoured to be asked to present the premiership cup if Geelong wins in Saturday's Grand Final," Selwood said.

"This club holds a special place in my heart and has been such a big part of my life. It's been a joy to watch the Club continue to chase greatness every year, with so many of the players I've played alongside continuing to challenge in pursuit of football's ultimate prize.

"I wish the players, staff, members and supporters all the best for Saturday, enjoy the moment and embrace the opportunity."

As for Brown, he was an integral part of the Lions' three-peat in the early 2000s, and is a club hero from the moment he entered the competition.

The gun forward was asked by AFL icon and former Brisbane premiership coach Leigh Matthews to be the cup presenter, pending the Queensland club's victory.

A year after Matthews, the triple Brisbane premiership coach, presented the 2024 cup to Fagan, the Lions won by 60 points against Sydney.

On Fox Footy's On the Couch, Matthews said: "I had the great honour of presenting the premiership cup (last year), of course ... we had a Brisbane Lions board meeting the other week to pick someone to present the cup if the Lions won, and (if) the Lions won — ‘Browny', are you available?"

Brown replied: "Yeah, I am available."

Brown said in a statement how honoured he is to be a part of the special day.

"It's an amazing honour and I am extremely grateful," Brown said.

"I have had a love for this club from a very young age, and it is great to still have a connection, because I am still a very proud Lion.

"In some ways, I feel more pride about this group than mine, because when you are playing, you are in the moment.

"But when you are on the outside, you marvel at what this group has been able to achieve. And to play a small role is an amazing feeling.

"Our team in ‘03 was a year of overcoming adversity, and I think this group has a similar quality - their ability to overcome adversity and challenges is on the same level.

"That's what makes a great team, because this competition is highly competitive and premierships are hard to win.

"Win or lose, though, I will still be so proud of this group, and I am in awe of them."
